They do both mean the same thing. I have discovered that Open Office does have some quirks with list lookups and after your experience it seems to not convert Excel files that have web lookups as well so yet another issue.
I created a new template strictly for Open Office and will post on the site shortly. This should resolve current problems. Have to thank you again for finding the issue.
